The Oggie is the one to start with: steak, potato, onion, and rutabaga crimped into a proper hand pie and served with gravy for dipping. From there the menu wanders a long way from Cornwall, more than forty fillings in all, including a chicken tikka masala and a Cubano, most landing between sixteen and nineteen dollars, with legitimate vegan versions instead of afterthoughts. The room does its share of the work too. Repurposed church pews, exposed brick, old mining photographs, pool tables in back, and a long bar with a serious lineup of draft handles.

Weekday afternoons from 3 to 6 are when the bar gets cheap, with discounted drafts, well drinks, and house wine, and several listings show the deal running all day on Sunday, so it is worth asking when you sit down. The building anchors the top of Charleston where the Arts District starts, and the kitchen goes late, midnight most nights and 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
